Educational use only

PharmCalc performs arithmetic on the values you type in. It knows nothing about any patient — not their comorbidities, concurrent medicines, allergies, organ function, laboratory trends, or goals of care. Nothing it produces is medical, pharmaceutical, or therapeutic advice, and nothing here is a recommendation for any individual person.

Verify before any clinical use

Every result must be independently checked by a qualified healthcare professional against current product labelling, primary literature, and the protocols of the institution where care is delivered. Where PharmCalc and an institutional protocol differ, the protocol governs.

PharmCalc shows the complete formula, every input, and every intermediate step for exactly this reason — so you can check the working rather than trust the number.

Not for patients

This tool is intended for pharmacists, pharmacy students, and other healthcare professionals. If you are a patient, do not use it to calculate your own doses or to interpret your own laboratory results — speak to your pharmacist or prescriber. Do not use PharmCalc in a medical emergency; contact your local emergency services.

Accuracy

Every formula and constant carries a citation, and the calculations are covered by an automated test suite. Even so: clinical knowledge changes, published equations are superseded, reference ranges are laboratory-specific, and software contains errors. No representation is made that this content is complete, current, or error-free. The calculations have not been independently verified by a licensed pharmacist. Reference ranges shown are conventional values; your own laboratory's ranges take precedence.

No warranty and limitation of liability

PharmCalc is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and operators accept no liability for any loss or damage of any kind arising from use of, or inability to use, this application. Use of PharmCalc creates no professional relationship of any kind.

Some jurisdictions do not permit these exclusions, so parts of the above may not apply to you.

Your data

The values you type into a calculator are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to us. There is no account, no database of calculations, and no server-side processing of your inputs. Preferences, favourites, and your last 20 calculations are stored on your own device and can be deleted from the About page.

That is not the same as saying nothing is recorded at all. Like any website, this site is served from a host that keeps standard request logs, and it may carry third-party advertising. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not recorded, and how to opt out.

One thing to watch: the copy permalink feature encodes the values you entered into the URL. Never put a patient name, medical record number, or any other identifier into a calculation, and think before sharing a link.
